   With KnotsBag software, you can design knotwork very easily on the basis of a graph according to the method of Christian MERCAT. I wanted to develop this software after reading the paper "Celtic knotwork" of Christian MERCAT, Scientific American "Exotic mathematics", April 2005.  I do recommand to visit his website : http://www.entrelacs.net/

    To design knotwork, I used Bézier curves. For further information on these bézier curves or any types of curves, visit the following remarkable website : http://www.mathcurve.com/

KnotsBag, shareware :

    The "Demo" mode  substitutes  the freeware version : it allows to create graphs and knotwork and to save your drawings but not to export in SVG and AI vector format for INKSCAPE, GIMP and Adobe ILLUSTRATOR. Try it for free and have fun without time limit!
    The shareware version of KnotsBag allows to create graphs and knotwork and to export the drawing in vector format (SVG and AI). For the use of this  version, there is a charge of 10 euros (only!).
 
   
    Parameters of generated Bézier curves are so many that you have the opportunity to create anything else than knotwork!

puce Instructions for use.

First step:

       Create the graph locating the points on the grid ( 3 grids are possible  ) or everywhere else : In the tab "graph", select "créer point" :

Second step:

      Link the points selecting a type of linking (4 possibilities) and clicking successively  on the points:

Third step:

      Vary all the parameters of Bézier curves and colors :

Export

The export can be in .svg for Inkscape and GIMP, or AI for Adobe Illustrator.

1-Unzipp the file "KnotsBag_X_Classic.zip"
2-Drag the folder "KnotsBag_X_Classic" into your "applications" folder.
1-Unzipp the file "KnotsBag_X_UB.dmg.zip"
2- Mount the image disk. (click twice on the "KnotsBag_X_UB.dmg" file)
3-Drag the folder "KnotsBag_X_UB" into your "applications" folder.
1-Unzipp the file "KnotsBag_Linux.zip"
2-Drag the folder "KnotsBag_Linux" into your hard drive.
1-Unzipp the file "KnotsBag_Windows.zip"

puce Distort a picture by a conformal map.

Step 1 :

    Make a drawing with KnotsBag and export it in  SVG format. 

Step 2 :

    Open the SVG file with GIMP ( make modifications if you want) and save it in JPEG format.

Step 3:

    Write a formula (1/z, z^2,log(z)...)

Step 4:

    Click on bouton "Charger une image à déformer" ("Choose a picture to distort"). (Work with "Safari" or "Internet Explorer")

Step 5:

    Click on bouton "Sauvegarder l'image déformée" (Save the distorted picture").
